Today, t-shirt printing is more than just a basic paint and brush procedure. Depending on your needs, there are various methods to choose from. You need to familiarize yourself with the advantages and disadvantages of each method if you are beginning a t-shirt printing business.

T-Shirt Screen Printing Method:

One of the most popular techniques of t-shirt printing is screen printing or otherwise known as silk screening. This practice involves transferring your design or image onto a fine fabric or screen, which is applied as a template. You would require another screen for each color of the design.

Although screen printing presents high quality of print, this is not advised if you are transferring photo images. This method is also economical only if you are making a large number of t-shirts. Small businesses that print small number of t-shirts per design would find this procedure pricey.

T-Shirt Heat Transfer:

Heat transfer is the most viable method in t-shirt printing for small businesses. This procedure involves that the image is printed on a transfer paper before setting it under a heat press. This will heat-transfer the picture onto the t-shirt.

Although faster, the quality of the photo on the t-shirt is more likely less than screen printing. There are events when the photo will break. This is also mostly used for white garments as the heat often changes color. However, this method is less expensive than other printing techniques.

D-T-G Print On T-Shirt Method:

Direct-to-Garment or DTG is a favorite technique that needs lesser measures. You just need a modified inkjet printer to directly print the design on the t-shirt without the use of a template. And because DTG doesn’t use screen any longer unlike screen printing, the colors that can be applied for the design is more flexible.

Nowadays, t-shirt printing is not a mechanical way of transferring a design to a garment any longer. It is thought of as an art. Whatever procedure you prefer, you need to study its pros and cons. Make sure it is suited with your t-shirt fabric, design and budget before having your shirts printed.
