The concept of a workplace can usually centre on stress, clutter and a depressing dull appearance. However, this does not necessarily have to be the case. Instead, by using an organised, clutter free storage system including certain calming features, work is not only done with greater efficiency, but also, can feel more enjoyable.

Storage is 9 tenths of the law. It encourages a clear system which is void of clutter by simply applying a desk, cupboard, shelves and any other relevant furnisher. Clutter is often a regular theme which prevents productivity, especially when it is not only visually unattractive, but retrieving relevant documents may be unnecessarily taxing. Therefore, regularly clear it out.

Second, ensure space is divided. Storage objects vary is both size and appearance and it is important to take full advantage of this. That is, splitting the room by using a large item – perhaps a shelving unit, can give a positive effect. But use this on a small room, and the large unit can instead be overwhelming.

Minimalism in this case does not necessarily involve reducing the quantity of objects, but instead, by cleverly arranging items around the room can ensure sufficient items are held without limiting sense of space.

Forth, Up your storage. In most work, planning is vital – and devising a storage system is no different. Remember, if you don’t plan, you plan to fail.

Fifth, Hide it away. As mentioned, the arrangement of space is important; but if the room is small, enhancing space may seem impossible. Nevertheless, there is a useful and cheap technique to consider – paint the front of the unit white will make it blend in with the rest of the room, resulting in a more spacious sensation.

Style and certain attributes within the objects can deliver the right effect if affected correctly. Retro blinds, shades and by simply choosing a glass style desk can ensure the effect is positive in portraying space. The retro style and shades relate to colour and lighting. These aren’t physical objects, but there significance involves a more physical impact on the person. In other words, the light and colour can deliver a peaceful and relaxing mood, thus reducing stress.
