Got to have your Prints now?

1 Comment 24 January 2009

Have you been bombarded with other marketing duties that you’ve forgotten to get something printed?
We all have projects that have been put aside and forgotten till the last minute, only being reminded by the impending due date on the calendar or a nagging boss.
Luckily, the regular turnaround time online printers offer is fast and efficient, but also offer special expedited services. For example, PrintRunner has a regular 4 day turnaround time on brochures and also have an expedited service of 2 day turnaround.  PSPrint has a few more options and even offers a 1 day rush job on the most time sensitive jobs.
Although these services are helpful and will save you when you’re in a pinch, beware of the premium rates the online printing companies will charge you.

With that said, you will also need to keep in mind:

  • Shipping times – Are you in close proximity to the shipping warehouses of the online printers?
  • Shipping rates – Don’t forget that the premium placed on faster turnaround does not include expedited shipping.  Depending on your needs, you’ll have to also choose expedited shipping. (this will add another hefty fee)
  • Artwork – Does your artwork meet the specifications required? (Does it meet the DPI requirements?, Does it need Bleed?, Any misspellings?, Are all copy updated and gramatically correct?) If artwork isn’t within the specifications required by the printing company, you will have to rework them till the artwork meets the minimum requirements, which will lead to lost time.

None of us will want to always rely on the expedited services, it’s good to know that we have access to speed when we need it!

I’ve had those days I had to get a whole load of prints finished ASAP. I was lucky it was only 1 page flyers, and was able to get it printed and out the door within a day.
