Golf in and around Dundee

Comments Off on Golf in and around Dundee 09 October 2011

Dundee is surrounded by many great golf courses just a short drive from the city centre, including St Andrews and Carnoustie both of which have hosted many great competitions such as the British Open. In 2011 the Ladies open is being held at Carnoustie. A new pro shop is currently being built and completion is due for the start of this prestigious competition.

In addition to Carnoustie and St Andrews there are many other fine golf courses spread along the east coast, all individual and all offering a new and exciting challenge. Just a short drive further north lies Arbroath, famous for the Arbroath Smokie, with its picturesque harbour and popular golf course. The members offer a warm welcome and the course is always in superb condition.

All of the golf courses I have visited and played have welcomed visitors and groups. Each course has been in excellent condition, the green keepers take a great deal of pride in their work, and it shows. It takes a great deal of time and energy to maintain the courses and to keep the greens and fairways in such a wonderful condition as to make it a pleasure to step out and take that first shot down the first fairway.

Pay and play is favourite with many visiting groups and package deals are available at most golf clubs and catering can be included to make the most of one’s visit.

Scotland is the home of golf and still provides the best experience to golfers of all standards

Use Dundee as a base for your Scottish golf break, close to the home of golf, St Andrews, and many other great courses.
